ELHT Laboratory Delays Posted or Updated on 22 Aug 2025

In recent weeks we have had several incidents of blood samples being rejected by the lab at the hospital marked as being too old to be tested. We would like to reassure patients that this delay has not been caused by Practice staff, but the issue lies with the hospital. This is an issue affecting all practices in the area.

We appreciate it is frustrating having to attend for a second appointment due to this and we can assure you that it is just as frustrating for us to provide additional resources for the sample to be repeated.

This issue has been raised with ELHT and the local ICB and we will continue to monitor the situation while we await their response.
